Walk to the Splash Bar

While walking to Splash Wine Bar, a lady stopped at the edge of the curb -- eager to cross before traffic patterns allowed. Police occupied every corner in uniform and vehicle alike. The minutes dragged on, denying her passage. She bit her lip and stared at the seedless spots of gum on the ground. She looked closer to the red sidewalk before looking up to the illuminated hindrance commanding DON'T WALK. She shed her right sandal and used the left to hop between heavy traffic. Twice she was nearly struck by cars and she once had to backtrack to avoid being hit by a bus. When she was safe on the other side, the officer tipped his hat and bid her a good evening, "ma'am". She then continued down the street for half a block before jaywalking to her friend's car.
